A warning strike in public transport has caused major disruptions in Nuremberg. On Friday and Saturday in particular, subway, tram, and bus services were largely suspended.
The strike is part of an ongoing labor dispute between the Verdi trade union and municipal employers. Similar actions are affecting several cities across Bavaria.
During the strike, most subway and tram lines did not operate, while bus services were significantly reduced. Temporary replacement services were introduced but could not fully compensate for the disruptions.
S-Bahn and regional train services were not affected, as they are operated by different providers. These services therefore offered an important alternative for commuters and visitors.
Despite the transport disruptions, the Nuremberg Spring Festival remains accessible. Visitors are advised to use rail transport and other available options to reach the venue.
According to transport authorities, normal operations are expected to resume after the strike ends on Sunday morning.
