According to the Middle Franconia Police, a 36-year-old man with no fixed address became aggressive after the driver asked him to leave the bus for disruptive behavior. Witnesses reported that the man shouted threats and then physically attacked the driver. The driver defended himself with pepper spray and called the police.
When officers arrived, they attempted to calm the man down, but he resisted and damaged part of an officer’s equipment. One officer sustained minor injuries, while the driver was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
The suspect was arrested and remains in custody. The Nuremberg public prosecutor’s office has launched criminal proceedings for assault and resistance against law enforcement.
The transport company VAG Nuremberg announced increased security measures and additional crisis-management training for its drivers.
