Düsseldorf Carnival 2025/26 – The fifth season begins

10.11.2025 122

The Düsseldorf Carnival is one of the biggest and most colorful festivals in Germany, marking the beginning of what locals call the “fifth season.”

Every year on November 11 at 11:11 a.m., thousands gather in the Old Town (Altstadt) to launch the carnival season with laughter, music, and costumes.

The city’s carnival associations introduce their programs, and the Prince and Princess of the Carnival are officially presented. The celebration continues throughout winter, reaching its grand finale with the Rosenmontagszug (Rose Monday Parade) on February 16, 2026.

The opening ceremony on the Marktplatz features live bands, comedy, and dance performances. Cafés and pubs offer themed menus, while the streets turn into a living stage filled with color and cheer.

Düsseldorf’s carnival stands out for its political satire and humorous parade floats, reflecting the city’s creative and critical spirit. It’s an inclusive event — everyone can join in, laugh, and celebrate together.

📍 Venue: Marktplatz, Altstadt Düsseldorf

🗓 Opening: November 11, 2025, 11:11 a.m.

🎉 Main parade: Rose Monday – February 16, 2026

Deutsche Welle
