On December 29, the Berlin cinema “Colosseum” will host a special festive screening of the iconic Soviet comedy “Ivan Vasilievich: Back to the Future” — on the big screen with live musical accompaniment. This is a rare chance to watch the cult classic in the original Russian with English subtitles, surrounded by a warm and festive New Year atmosphere.
The event will be a major highlight for Berlin’s Russian-speaking community and for all admirers of Soviet cinema. Live performance of the film’s music by professional musicians will bring a fresh emotional dimension and a unique viewing experience.
Organizers note that the film’s relevance and charm remain strong more than fifty years after its release. Gaidai’s comedy is still witty, energetic and instantly recognizable. Based on a play by Mikhail Bulgakov, it gains depth and a timeless, multilayered character.
