Tierpark Berlin-Friedrichsfelde (Am Tierpark 125, 10319 Berlin), one of Berlin’s two zoos and considered both unique and prestigious among the largest zoological parks in Europe, has for the sixth time become a “stage of magic,” transforming into a dazzling kingdom of light and colour known as “Christmas at Tierpark Berlin.” The event is organised and hosted by Christmas Garden Deutschland GmbH.
At dusk, as if by the wave of a magic wand, the zoo turns into a “fairy-tale realm,” woven from countless Christmas lights. The familiar outlines of enclosures and pathways fade into the gentle glow, giving way to a spectacular display of light and colour. Trees decorated with garlands transform into shimmering, mysterious mirages, and the playful silhouettes of animals, illuminated by glowing reflections, appear as lifelike characters stepped straight out of classic Christmas tales.
Visitors can fully immerse themselves in this enchanting atmosphere of celebration and magical light effects while walking along a special two-kilometre route through the zoo. More than 30 creatively designed futuristic light installations are presented along the way, full of imagination and sometimes surprising interactive elements.
In addition, guests can enjoy a sparkling ice rink set against a beautifully lit backdrop, an exciting rally quest for children, a nostalgic retro-style photo booth to capture special moments, and the cheerful and energetic “Wichtel Disco.”
“I am delighted that, once darkness falls, our ‘Christmas at Tierpark Berlin’ festival once again transforms our zoo into a mesmerising world of lights. This beloved tradition brings people of all ages together, creating unforgettable moments of joy. It reflects the very essence of the zoo: a place where shared impressions bring people closer and remain in memory,” said Dr Andreas Knieriem, Director of the Berlin zoos and the city aquarium.

IMPORTANT
As every year, the welfare of the animals – and there are more than 8,500 of them – was the top priority when planning the route. It was carefully coordinated in advance to ensure that no animal is disturbed by the light installations. Particularly sensitive species can retreat to their “rest zones,” ensuring both visitor safety and animal protection.
The festival “Christmas at Tierpark Berlin” runs from 21 November 2025 to 10 January 2026, except on 24 and 25 November 2025, 1, 8, 24 and 31 December 2025, and 5 and 6 January 2026.
