The musical monodrama “It’s Me. Edith Piaf” is a deeply moving theatrical production dedicated to the life and work of the legendary French singer. The performance is presented in Russian and features songs from Edith Piaf’s repertoire performed live by actress and vocalist Anastasia Vainmar.
The project combines elements of dramatic theatre and a concert performance, creating an immersive atmosphere that draws the audience into the fate of an artist who became a symbol of 20th-century French music. What unfolds on stage is not merely a concert of famous songs, but a complete artistic portrait of a woman whose life was filled with passion, pain, struggle, and unconditional love.
During her lifetime, Edith Piaf was called “the soul of the French nation.” After her death, she became an icon of global musical culture. Her songs continue to be performed on the world’s greatest stages and resonate with audiences of different generations. Beginning her journey on the streets of Paris, Piaf rose from a street singer to a legend of the world stage. When asked about the meaning of life, she answered simply: “Love — what else?”.
The play by Nina Mazur was created by graduates of the Saint Petersburg Theatre Academy.
